Three Hour Tour

SANDY ISLAND (YES ANOTHER, SANDY ISLAND!)

After the hash and the most yummy roti (vegetable and chicken curry in a homemade wrap) we cruised up the bay in about a minute to Sandy Island (yes, another Sandy Island like Hermosa Beach or ...) with our Hash Gang.  This point had all kinds of coral, a lovely underwater garden and lots of gold fish and just every kind of fish you can think of.

As Wade lunches and recoops in our cockpit you get a glimpse of our new dinghy, Just Drifting Junior.
We stayed with a 10 1/2 foot but changed to an aluminum hull which is lighter and deeper and really cuts through the waves and turns on a dime.  It makes hoising it onto the arch a lot easier for Wade.  He's a happy guy.

As the gang split up, Just Drifting carried on to revisit Petit St. Vincent and Tobago Cays and the crystaline waters of the Grenadines.

Leaving the Cays Flying the Spinnaker 1st time!!

Leaving the turtle sanctuary we started home heading for the Windward side of Grenada.  With the wind and swell at our backs we decided to try out our new Spinnaker.  We might have been battling a current and there was little wind but we are wondering if we could use a bigger Spinnaker.  After all we have a huge, new pole that is way too big for this sail.  The experiment continues...

Carriacou Harrier Hash

Grenada is greatly influenced by British colonialism.  The locals and cruisers get together for  Harrier House Hashing which is reminescent of the hunters chasing rabbits and running over hill and dale.
There is a weekly hash which entails a Harrier to set the trail and false trails which are marked with shredded balls of white paper.  There is often a "Walkers" trail as well as the "Runners" trail.  Needless to say, we do the "Walkers".  This is rigourous enough and although it takes only a couple of hours long we have earned the right to quenching our thirst just as vigourously and enjoying barbequed chicken or "oil down" and veggies to revive all of us "hunters".  If you are a "Virgin" Hasher you are inducted with an elaborate initiation which is mostly being sprayed with many fizzed up bottles of Carib Beer.  And if you dare to wear new sneakers, you are ceased and made to drink out of your shoe!

A fantastic sail north-east from Grenada to Carriacou and just past Kick'em Jenny, the underwarer active Volcano.

Arrival time:  Sunset in Carriacou.
